If you haven’t yet finished the book but would like to know if we are interested in before completing, you are also welcome to submit a synopsis and 3 chapters of the manuscript.

Please submit a professionally edited digital copy of your work as one single document in MSWord or PDF. Our editorial team will undertake a comprehensive review of all work that is submitted to us. You will receive a confirmation email as a record that the work is in safekeeping with us.

At Vendela Publishing, we work with a hybrid publishing model where the author makes an initial payment in order to be included in our publishing stream. This payment covers production and distribution costs.

The author is responsible for the cover and providing a clean document for layout. We will guide you through the process and quality-check for you, but the author is in control of where that work is done and the cost involved.

Phase 1: Submission $197

We consider submissions from a wide range of nonfiction books and fiction written in English, including romance, cozy mystery, fantasy, historical fiction, sci-fi, and horror. At this time, we do not accept erotica.

When you submit your manuscript, we will put it through detailed analysis software, then our acquisitions team will perform an evaluation.

All submissions will receive a full and comprehensive analysis as a PDF document. You can use this for your marketing as well as improvements to the book itself, whether you publish with Vendela or not. As part of the pilot program, submissions are currently $47, but that will increase after the pilot is finished

Phase 2: Production $1499

Vendela Publishing is author-focused. While many hybrid publishers charge $8,000 to $10,000 for publication, your investment covers production at the lowest rate we can manage with fair compensation to our service providers.

After acceptance, your personal Account Manager will guide you in any modifications to your cover design and manuscript preparation as well as check the overall quality of your book, so we can meet Ingram’s high standards.

We will SEO optimize your back cover text and other marketing text, upload to 39,000 retailers and libraries, add your book to our web site, newsletter, and social media, create your unique page on BooksToRead.com, fully optimized and searchable to get you more traffic.

We will also provide your Customized Marketing Pack to help you with your launch which includes subtitle suggestions, hashtags, talking points for your podcast interviews, reader hooks, key phrases for ads, and several email scripts including a series of 5 emails you can use to promote your book to your email connections and an email to encourage people to participate in your launch.

The Marketing Pack alone is worth more than $1000 if you were to hire your own copy writer. The Optimized text is worth at least $350. When you tally up all that goes into our production and the help you will receive, the value keeps going up and up. You will receive far beyond what hybrid publishers usually provide.

Phase 3: Membership Support

As a Vendela author, you will receive ongoing support via our membership community. We keep the initial costs low because your small monthly contribution helps sustain our monthly operations and support programs. We have to keep the lights on. While membership is required, you may choose your level of participation. The lowest rate is $37 per month, payable when your book is accepted.

FAQs

What genres do you accept?

We accept almost all fiction genres, but we reserve the right to refuse books involving graphic violence, abuse, erotica, or sexual exploitation.

What if my manuscript isn’t properly formatted yet?

If your manuscript isn’t formatted according to our specifications, you may submit it for approval and take care of the formatting afterward. Delivering a clean, edited manuscript is the author’s responsibility.

Do you accept foreign language submissions?

We only accept submissions written in English. We do however accept submissions from all countries as long as they are written in English.

How long does it take it hear back after submitting the manuscript?

It usually takes between 3-4 weeks to hear back from us. But this time scale can vary depending on how busy it is – for example, December is very busy for us. Regardless of the outcome, we always respond.

Do you accept nonfiction?

Yes, we accept nonfiction under our imprint Wildeve Press. The submission process is exactly the same.

Do you accept poetry?

Not at this time

What about rights, royalties, copies, and covers?

Our authors retain all rights to their books.

Our authors keep 100% of their royalties.

We have specifications for your cover, but we do not produce book covers. The author has complete control over who creates their cover.

Authors can purchase their books at a reduced author rate. To keep our costs low, we do not provide free books.

Whom shall I contact during the submissions review process?

The submissions team will look over your book and decide whether it will work for our list. We cannot hurry the review process, and we do reply to every submission. Once you hear from us, you’re more than welcome to speak to your Account Manager. If you haven't heard from us after 6 weeks, feel free to email us with your submission reference.

Do I need an agent to send my manuscript?

No, you do not need an agent to submit to us.

Can I submit my manuscript again at a later time?

Yes, you may begin the submission process again after you have improved the manuscript according to our recommendations. Also, you’re more than welcome to submit a different piece of work to us at any time.

We do not accept

Terms and Conditions

Before you submit your manuscript to Vendela, please read and agree to the following Terms and Conditions:

• By submitting your manuscript, you affirm that you are the original creator of the work and hold the rights to submit it. Vendela Publishing claims no ownership of your material during the review process.

• The author will maintain the rights to the intellectual copyright of the work at all times.

• Simultaneous submissions are allowed, but please let us know if your manuscript is under consideration elsewhere.

• By submitting your work, you consent to our storing your submission and contact information for communication purposes related to this evaluation. Vendela Publishing, LLC, may use the personal details of the Author for correspondence purposes. 

• No information regarding any Author’s personal details will be disclosed to any third parties without the express permission of the Author.

•  No disclosure of email addresses or similar contact data will be allowed without express permission from the Author.

• Vendela Publishing cannot be held responsible for the loss, damage or non-return of any material sent to us in hardcopy or otherwise.
